At Canadian firearms Training Corp, safety and skill come first in every course we offer.

The Canadian Firearms Training’s mission is to empower and educate individuals in the safe, responsible, and proficient use of firearms. Our dedicated group of instructors, with diverse qualifications and extensive experience in practical shooting disciplines, guides new and novice graduates through PAL (Possession and Acquisition Licence) and RPAL (Restricted Possession and Acquisition Licence) courses. They also assist more seasoned shooters in enhancing their skill level.

Our expertise spans a broad spectrum of disciplines, from practical handgun shooting to rifle and shotgun sports, tailored to meet the unique needs of each participant. Through structured training programs, mentorship, and hands-on experience, we aim to cultivate a community of responsible firearm enthusiasts who exemplify excellence, discipline, and respect within the shooting sports community.

Practical pistol shooting prioritizes safety above all, with strict protocols to ensure a secure environment for participants and spectators. Safety rules are enforced universally, guided by organizations like the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) and the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA). Key safety measures include rigorous firearm handling practices, range commands, and mandatory safety gear.

Our Instructors

Marcell Wolf, a Provincial Instructor for the Canadian Shooting Sports Association (CSSA), holds a designation as a Firearms Safety and Education Service Instructor from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). This designation allows him to instruct and examine the Canadian Firearms Safety Course and the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course.

Marcell has taught a diverse range of programs, including the Club Level Safety Instructor Program, the Range Safety Officer Program, and the Trauma Range Safety Officer Program. He has also held positions of responsibility at several clubs as a Safety Instructor and Sign Off Officer. Notably, he served as the Chief Range Safety Officer at the Guelph Gun Club.

Marcell Wolf is an avid shooter who participates in various disciplines, including IDPA, IPSC, Multi-Gun, Dynamic Shotgun, Action Pistol, and Historical Military Rifle. He is a member of the CSSA and the Canadian Coalition for Firearms Rights (CCFR), where he also serves as a Field Officer.

Marcell Wolf is a multifaceted professional. He serves as a Safety Officer, Chief Safety Officer, Safety Officer Instructor, and Area Coordinator for Ontario with the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA). Additionally, he holds the position of Section Coordinator at the Aurora Gun Club. As an IDPA competitor, Wolf has achieved remarkable success, winning numerous Division and Classification titles. Notably, he has earned Ontario and National titles, including Division Champion and Winter Series Champion, as a Master Level Custom Defensive Pistol Competitor.

In addition to his competitive pursuits, Wolf is a Range Officer with the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) and actively engages in the discipline. While he also participates in various other disciplines, this is a topic for a future discussion.

Wolf’s teaching approach is characterized by patience and engagement. He firmly believes that the classroom environment should be inclusive and tailored to the highest level of skill development. His program is meticulously designed from the ground up, commencing at the learner’s current skill level and gradually progressing to more advanced levels. Wolf’s teaching philosophy has been shaped by his extensive 26 years of experience as a high school teacher and administrator, which infuses every class with his energy and enthusiasm.

Throughout his two decades in education, Wolf has refined his methodologies to create a learning atmosphere that prioritizes individual growth and collective advancement. He understands the importance of addressing diverse learning styles and needs, ensuring that each participant receives personalized attention and guidance. His background in educational administration has equipped him with the skills to manage training programs effectively, fostering an environment where safety, skill development, and respect are paramount.

Paul began his journey in shooting sports as a passionate competitive shooter, engaging in a range of dynamic disciplines, including IPSC (International Practical Shooting Confederation), IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association), IPSC Shotgun disciplines, IPSC rifle, general rifle at distance, as well as trap shooting. His early enthusiasm for the sport quickly evolved into a commitment to mastering precision and tactical shooting skills, establishing a strong foundation in competitive dynamics. As Paul honed his skills, he actively competed in diverse disciplines, showcasing adaptability and dedication. His achievements in competition naturally led him to seek roles that emphasized leadership and safety.

Paul became an official IPSC Range Officer (RO) and advanced to Chief Range Officer (CRO), demonstrating his capability to oversee competitive shooting events with precision and authority. In the IDPA community, he earned certifications as a Safety Officer (SO) and later as a Chief Safety Officer (CSO), reinforcing his dedication to maintaining the highest safety standards. Paul's philosophy is that competition is not only about knowing the rules and participating safely but also about continuous growth and skill enhancement. His approach emphasizes the journey from mastering basic skills to developing advanced techniques that help competitors gain efficiencies in their performance. This philosophy drives his coaching and mentorship, where he focuses on refining shooters' abilities to improve both their technical proficiency and strategic thinking.

Building on his competitive and officiating experience, Paul took on the role of Match Director for IPSC matches, serving in this capacity for five years after assisting in the role for a number of years prior. His contributions included designing stages for numerous matches, both indoors and outdoors, at several clubs, showcasing his creativity and deep understanding of competitive shooting dynamics. Paul's innovative stage designs challenged competitors while ensuring their safety, highlighting his expertise in balancing the excitement of competition with the necessity of rigorous safety protocols.

Beyond sanctioned competitions, Paul participates at the club level, serving as a Club Level Range Officer and Safety Instructor. In these roles, he mentored new shooters, ensuring adherence to best practices in firearm handling and range safety, further solidifying his reputation as a leader in the shooting community. His hands-on approach and dedication to fostering a safe and inclusive environment have made him a trusted mentor and role model for many aspiring shooters.

Recognizing the importance of advocacy within the sport, Paul is a proud member of the Canadian Shooting Sports Association (CSSA) and the Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights (CCFR). Through his involvement with these organizations, he supports initiatives aimed at promoting responsible firearm ownership and protecting the rights of Canadian firearm enthusiasts. Paul Poolsaar
